CPA Exam Requirements
Education Requirements
Credit Requirements: 120 semester units (180 quarter units)
Minimum Degree: Baccalaureate degree
Additional Requirements:24 semester hours or equivalent quarter hours in accounting (12 hours must be upper level courses) + 18 semester hours of business related courses
Residency Requirements
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is not required
Minimum Age: 18
Additional Requirements: It is not necessary to be a resident, employee, or keep office(s) in the state
State License Requirements
Social Security Requirement: Yes
Educational Requirement: 150 Semester hours (including Bachelor’s Degree) with 36 hours in accounting (20 must be upper division) and 30 hours in business related subjects
Participates in International Exam Program: Yes
Experience Requirements: 1 year (2,000 hours) work experience with Certificate of Experience signed by licensed CPA, fulfilled before, during, or after passing the CPA Exam
Ethics Exam: Must pass AICPA Professional Ethics Exam and provide 5 letters of recommendation
