Incurred
A deductible, reportable expense that was bought on credit.
On December 31, 2017 I bought $1000 worth of computer paper and charged it to VISA. I will record the $1000 expense on both my financial statements and my income tax return for 2017 even though I won’t pay the bill until January 2018.
