So you didn’t pass the CPA Exam on the first try? Its important to remember that you’re not alone and its not the end of the world. This is when you pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start again. Its a new year, a fresh start and a chance to ace the CPA Exam the second time around.
Below are 3 New Year’s resolutions for those facing the CPA Exam for a second time:
- Figure out why you didn’t pass the first time. Was it attributed to poor study habits? Did you lack concentration due to stress, physical fatigue or poor preparation? This is the time to carefully examine what you did wrong, improve on those problem areas and map out a successful study strategy going forward.
- Set your priorities. If everyday life and work prevented you from establishing a specific study routine, then figure out how to minimize wasted time in order to meet your studying goals. This is the time to explain to family and friends that you need their support in order to pass the CPA Exam. Let them know your designated study times, set boundaries so those times are not disturbed and recruit them to help you meet your goals. Don’t let yourself waiver from your scheduled study periods, ever!
- Stay healthy! Without the proper sleep and self-care, you’ll be undermining your ability to retain critical information for the Exam. Make it a habit to get plenty of rest, exercise and proper nutrition that includes drinking lots of water! If you don’t feel well, you won’t perform at your optimal levels. Taking care of yourself should be your number one goal. When you are at 100% (or as close as possible), positive results will occur.
