Sometimes, preparing for something as important as the CPA exam can lead to bit of anxiety and stress. This can have an effect on your ability to think clearly since studying for the exam takes a great deal of focus. For a lot of us, we have to remember that focus doesn’t just happen on its own—and we can’t expect it to. It takes intentional effort, and effort requires energy.

I took a little break from studying during the holidays. I really needed that break after learning that I didn’t pass BEC. I tried to jump right back in and review the materials, going as far as to even scheduling the exam.

Starting April 1, 2018, the AICPA has determined that the CPA Exam will undergo a series of changes set to improve the User Experience.  Among these updates is the inclusion of Microsoft Excel, which is replacing the previous generic spreadsheet tool that has been available within the Exam. 

If you are like me, your life is getting busier and busier all of the time. There is always something on the to-do list and studying for the exam is never convenient. In order to make quality time for studying, many things that are considered a routine part of my lifestyle had to change.

I have made a lot of mistakes along the way during my CPA Exam journey and have learned many lessons as a result. I’m so much wiser now in terms of what to expect prior to and during this process. Some of the challenges that have come about over the years have been unavoidable, and that’s okay, because that’s just the nature of life.

While you may have given plenty of second chances to the people around you, remember that this phrase is also very applicable to yourself. As a CPA Exam candidate, there’s lots of challenges you encounter in juggling life with passing the exam.
