Prometric Closure

In an attempt to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 disease, Prometric Testing Centers have deemed it necessary to close all their testing centers within the United States as well as Canada. To protect the health and well-being of both CPA Exam candidate test takers as well as Prometric staff, testing centers will remain closed until the approximate date of April 30th. Prometric will clear Notice to Schedule candidates and cancel scheduled appointments from April 16th to April 30th. 

Prometric understands that this news is concerning for CPA Exam candidates who have scheduled their Exams during this 30 day closure period and have reassured them that no rescheduling fees will be applied to those who need to reschedule in light of this news. 

Therefore, if you have an existing appointment with Prometric, you should be receiving an email from them with instructions on how to reschedule your appointment to a future date when it’s safe to resume testing (April 30 at the earliest). To find available appointments, you can go to their website, www.prometric.com. If you’d like to call Prometric for assurance, be prepared to experience hold times due to the volume of individuals they are looking to support.

NASBA Credit Extensions

If you’re worried about whether or not this will affect your 18-month rolling window to pass the CPA Exam, NASBA has stated the following regarding credit extensions: 

“NASBA has recommended that the Boards of Accountancy extend all NTS with expirations between April 1 – June 30, 2020, until September 30, 2020.  At this time, no action is required by candidates and there is no need to contact NASBA or your Board of Accountancy. 

NASBA will identify all candidates who have an open NTS and credit expiring through June 30, 2020, and provide this information to Boards with a recommendation to grant an extension of credit if the candidate is impacted by circumstances beyond their control. Due to shutdowns of many board offices, the decisions to extend conditional credit will not be finalized until Boards resume normal operations. There is no need to contact Boards at this time.”
