On April 6, 2016, the top leadership team at Roger CPA Review met with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) at their headquarters in New York during the 2016 American Professional Accounting Certification Providers Association (APACPA) Conference. Roger Philipp, CPA, CGMA (CEO), Kristin Lynes (COO), Mark Dauberman, CPA (Senior Editor), and Rob Dewey (Product Development Director) met with the AICPA to collaborate in finalizing plans for the 2017 CPA Exam. Additionally, Roger CPA Review’s leadership team not only worked with the AICPA to address candidates’ questions and concerns, but also to ensure that they will be fully prepared for this next version of the CPA Exam.
What is the APACPA Conference?
The APACPA Conference is hosted by the AICPA every year at their headquarters during the month of April. The APACPA is a trade organization comprised of CPA Review companies in which Roger CPA Review is a member. Other organizations also normally in attendance are NASBA and Prometric representatives.
Why does this conference take place?
This annual conference gives stakeholders in the industry a chance to formally meet with the AICPA to discuss updates and changes that are occurring on the content, structure, or administrative ends of the CPA Exam. It also gives CPA Review companies a chance to collaborate directly with the AICPA to ensure that their curriculum reflects any changes or updates the CPA Exam is expected to undergo in the future.
Focusing on the 2017 CPA Exam Changes
This year, the most prominent topic at hand was of course how to prepare students for the next version of the CPA Exam which will make its debut during Q2 of next year—April 1, 2017 to be exact. During the conference, the AICPA provided a review of the 2017 CPA Exam, an update and discussion on the CPA Pipeline to the profession, test administration updates, and a general Q&A section.
Roger CPA Review’s leadership team, led by Roger Philipp, CPA, CGMA, was also given time to lead discussion regarding the APACPA’s concerns. They asked questions that directly represented CPA Exam candidates’ anxieties which were gathered from a poll they extended to their CPA Exam community. They also partook in finalizing 2017 CPA Exam changes by providing insight on how candidates typically execute time management and test-taking strategies on exam day.
What new information can candidates expect?
