CPA Exam Requirements
Education Requirements
Credit Requirements: 120 semester units, including Baccalaureate degree with concentration in Accounting OR AACSB-accredited Graduate Degree
Minimum Degree: Baccalaureate
Additional Requirements:
24 hours or equivalent quarter hours in upper division accounting courses
24 hours or equivalent quarter hours in business courses from the following subject areas economics; legal and social environment of business; business law; marketing; finance; organization, group, and individual behavior; quantitative applications in business; communication skills, and business ethics
Residency Requirements
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required
Minimum Age: 19
Additional Requirements: It is not necessary to be a resident, employee, or keep office(s) in the state
State License Requirements
Social Security Requirement: Yes
Educational Requirement: 150 Semester hours, including 33 semester hours in Accounting and 27 semester hours in business.
*Candidate has 36 months from passing the CPA Exam to obtain additional education requirements.
Participates in International Exam Program: No
Experience Requirements: 1 year in public accounting OR 2 years in the accounting industry, business, government, or college teaching (or a combination of these industries)
