Education Requirements

Credit Requirements: 120 semester units (225 quarter units) needed to sit for the exam.

Minimum Degree: Baccalaureate degree

Additional Requirements: Degree with concentration in accounting (27 semester hours in accounting-related subjects, including 3 hours in accounting, 3 hours in auditing, 3 hours in cost accounting, 3 hours in federal income tax, 12 hours other accounting courses, 3 hours of commercial law)

Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is not required

Minimum Age: None

Additional Requirements: It is not necessary to be a resident, employee, or keep office(s) in the state

Experience Requirements: 1 year experience in public accounting, government, industry or academia that must be verified by a licensed CPA (this experience can be obtained prior to the application, while sitting for the exam, or after all four parts of the exam have been passed. However, requirements to sit for the exam must be met before work experience commences)
