Education Requirements

Credit Requirements: 120 semester units (180 quarter units)

Minimum Degree: Baccalaureate degree

Additional Requirements: 20 semester hours in upper division accounting courses (intermediate accounting or above)


Residency Requirements

Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is not required

Minimum Age: 18

Additional Requirements: It is not necessary to be a resident, employee, or keep office(s) in the state

State License Requirements

Social Security Requirement: Yes

Educational Requirement: 150 semester hours with 30 hours in upper division accounting courses and 24 hours in business related courses

Participates in International Exam Program: Yes

Experience Requirements: Must submit Certificate of Experience to verify 1 year (2,000 hours) of supervised accounting experience no longer than 1 year prior to CPA licensure application. Duties for private industry should involve: using internal control systems, management advisory, financial advisory, consulting, tax, and regulatory laws.
