CPA Exam Requirements
Education Requirements
Credit Requirements: 150 semester units (225 quarter units) OR achieved a score of at least 620 on the GMAT Exam
Minimum Degree: Baccalaureate with 150 semester units
Additional Requirements: 30 semester hours or equivalent quarter hours in upper level accounting including at least one of each: taxation, auditing (internal auditing not applicable), financial accounting, management accounting, professional ethics and responsibilities
24 semester hours of business courses
Residency Requirements
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is not required
Minimum Age: 18
Additional Requirements: It is necessary to be a resident, employee, or keep office(s) in the state
State License Requirements
Social Security Requirement: Yes
Educational Requirement: 150 Semester hours (including Bachelor’s Degree)
Participates in International Exam Program: Yes
Experience Requirements: 1 year experience in public accounting in public accounting, government, business or academia earned in Ohio or any other state and verified by a CPA or comparably qualified accountant holding an independent auditor credential
Ethics Exam: Must pass Ohio Board of Accountancy course on basic professional standards and responsibilities and pass criminal background check
