Accounting Dictionary
CFO
CFO means Chief Financial Officer.
A CFO is the person responsible for the financial operations of the company. In a larger company you might have a Controller, the top accountant in the company who would be responsible for recording all financial transactions. This controller would report to the CFO who would use the accounting data to aid in financial decision making. In a smaller company the CFO might be in charge of both the recording function and the decision making function.
