CPA is the abbreviation for Certified Public Accountant.

If a person wants to use the designation CPA and charge the public money for doing accounting work, he or she must meet certain requirements. Every state’s requirements are a little different, but they all require candidates to fulfill education and experience requirements, pass an accounting and an ethics exam, take continuing education classes each year, and pay a yearly fee.
