There’s been this shift in this employer professional relationship. It’s gone from what you can do for the company to what the company can do for you. And in my opinion there’s two reasons for that. At one point in time, the concept of job hopping, and what I mean by that is individuals changing an employer every two to three years. At one point in time that was a negative stigma on somebody, but it’s become so prevalent today that it’s just, it’s just fact. The second reason for this shift in the employer/employee relationship has to do with this concept of war for talent. You’ll hear that referenced quite often within the public accounting profession, and it’s real, primarily because accountants, specifically CPAs, are in such high demand and have been for years. If a firm cannot answer the question what can the company do for you, well they run the risk of losing their professionals, especially the Millennials. I like to sum it up in the words of LeBron James. They’ll simply take their talents to South Beach.
