Why did you take Roger CPA Review?
I started my CPA journey back in 2011. I took 3 tests and failed all of them so I decided not to show up for my last test, which was REG. I was disappointed and told myself that “maybe this isn’t for me” since I did my best and it was still not good enough. However, I was still not convinced with my reasoning, so I applied for a retake and extended my subscription with Roger CPA Review. I examined myself as to how much of my lifestyle I was willing to sacrifice and how many sleepless nights I was willing to tolerate. For the second time around, again I chose Roger CPA Review. It was because I could easily relate to his way of teaching, the mnemonics he had and how he structured the review materials. His lively teaching method motivated me.
What was your favorite aspect of the course?
The Study Planner is my guide as I tackle each section of the CPA exam. When I am at work, I listen to Roger instead of listening to music. After work, I take a 30-minute nap to recharge myself then start studying. I read the book first because I dont like watching the videos without having a clue about what he will be discussing. Then I watch the videos and answer the questions. Sometimes Im tempted not to read the wrong answers if I got the question right but for some reason I can hear Roger saying in the back of my head you have to read why the answer is wrong so that you will know why it is wrong so I don’t give in to temptation!
What piece of advice do you have for other CPA Exam candidates?
There are a lot of factors that can hinder our plans and schedules such as personal life, work, or even our determination to study sometimes wears off. I experienced these factors just like everybody else. In times like these I listen to inspirational songs or read inspirational quotes. Then I tell myself, This is temporary.
Anything else you would like to share?
I am now preparing for my BEC exam, which is scheduled this last week of August. I have passed AUD & FAR and my plan is to pass all 4 this year. I must have the determination and will to go as far as I can to achieve my goal. Success is a battle between you and yourself only.
