A lot has happened since I last wrote. I took AUD as planned but just a few days before I took my exam I was let go from my job. I was beyond shocked. I still am in shock. I uprooted my whole life and moved to Pittsburgh for this dream job. I would love to tell you that I was laid off and it was due to no fault of my own but that would be a lie. I guess not all of us are cut out for tax. I never wanted to be a tax accountant but when the opportunity presented itself I could not pass it up. In fact, studying for Auditing and Attestation reminded me of why I fell in love with accounting in the first place. I wish I would have had a chance to transfer to the Audit side of my firm.
I am not sure of what the future holds for me right now but I know that I want to finish the CPA exam. Despite the situation, I still have some hope that I did well on AUD. If I pass, I will be halfway done and I will try to finish up the CPA Exam before the end of summer.
I also want to thank the Roger CPA Review staff. They have been so understanding and have given me such great words of encouragement: [Losing a job] its similar to the CPA Exam in that sometimes the unexpected happens and you need to retake a test. Its obviously not the situation you had hoped for, but as long as you pull yourself up by your boot straps, you WILL prevail. I truly appreciate it.
I would also appreciate any advice that my fellow CPA Exam candidates have on finding a job or updating my resume. Should one mention CPA sections passed on a resume or in the cover letter?
Hopefully this time next week I will have some good news about AUD. Im keeping my fingers crossed.
