Update on the ’11-’12 CPA Exam Scoring Error

Earlier this week, news broke of a CPA Exam scoring error affecting the simulations portions of REG and FAR exams in both 2011 and 2012. Word on the virtual street is that several students who initially received a failing score are now being told that they’ve passed. Roger CPA Review received several inquiries from students wondering if they were affected, so members of our staff put on their investigatory hats and dug deeper to find the details about this mishap.

Good news: A representative at the AICPA confirmed that the above facts are true.
Better news: If you have not received a phone call or email from CPA Exam Services informing you that your score is now a bright and shiny “Pass,” then you are not affected by this scoring error. All those affected have been notified.

Here is a message directly from the AICPA:

“We had an issue with two simulations.  All of the impacted candidates and their state boards have already been notified. Weve addressed the problem and thankfully, will not see it again.”
