CPA Exam Requirements
Education Requirements
Credit Requirements:120 semester units (180 quarter units)
Minimum Degree: Baccalaureate
Additional Requirements: Completed 30 or more semester hours of study in accounting, business law, economics, and finance, of which a minimum of 20 hours are in accounting
Residency Requirements
Citizenship: Candidate must be a U.S. citzen.
Minimum Age: 21
Additional Requirements: Candidate must be a resident, employee, or keep office(s) in the territory of the U.S. Virgin Islands.
State License Requirements
Social Security Requirement: Yes
Educational Requirement: 120 semester hours (including requirements completed for exam)
Participates in International Exam Program: No
Experience Requirements: Must have 2 years of public or government accounting work experience in auditing or as internal revenue agent IF a accounting degree is completed OR 3 years if non-accounting degree is completed
Ethics Exam: Provide 5 letters of reference (2 from any contact, 3 from practicing CPAs); NCIC Criminal background check; Tax Clearance letter from IRS
