Here’s some cool news for the Golden State! Come 2014, you could save a buck or two on CPA Licensure fees. However tempting the extra cash may seem, you’re still better off sitting for the CPA Exam now if you’re close to meeting the current requirements, as the new education requirements in 2014 are much more intense.
The Scoop:The California Board of Accountancy just announced that they are taking steps to lower certain fees related to CPA Licensure. The new fee structure won’t begin until July 1, 2014.
The Fee Reductions that Pertain to You:
- The application fee for the computer-based Uniform CPA Examination for issuance of the Authorization to Test to first-time applicants to be reduced from $100 to $50.
- The application fee for the computer-based Uniform CPA Examination for issuance of the Authorization to Test to repeat applicants to be reduced from $50 to $25.
- The application fee for issuance of a CPA certificate to be reduced from $250 to $50.
This is a two-year temporary reduction in exam, licensing, and renewal fees beginning July 1, 2014 and ending June 30, 2016. This is the second time the California Board of Accountancy has voted to reduce fees in three years.
