Why did you take Roger CPA Review?

After watching some of his YouTube videos and signing up for the free trial, I loved how Roger made the topics very interesting. In addition, he as a lecturer was very charismatic and entertaining. I knew that it was going to be a long road ahead, and if I was going to pick a course to study with, I wanted it to be an enjoyable one. The course also had a lot of good reviews on various different websites.

What was your favorite aspect of the course?

Roger taught the material well and then used real world scenarios as examples. This helped me make sense of everything I was learning, as opposed to just reading it in a textbook or listening to a professor lecture in class. Roger gives you hands on and real life application. In addition, the songs or dances he does are important little things that helped me remember a lot of the material during exam day, which helped me pass the exam.

How has passing the exam affected your personal and professional life?

It has made me appreciate the profession of accounting a lot more because I see how our profession really helps mold the economy, business, and all the different aspects associated with them. It has also increased my respect for what I do, widening my point of view on how I can assist clients–not just with taxes–but other business related goals.

In my personal life, it has given me more confidence and boosted my self-esteem. I know that if I can pass something as difficult as the CPA Exam, then I can accomplish anything I set my mind to. Consistence and persistence really pay off. Nothing worth while comes easy.

What piece of advice do you have for other CPA Exam candidates?

Always remember that you you will pass the exam when you want to pass. That means you have to have a plan. What I loved about Roger CPA Review is that they provided me with a study planner that I was able to customize to work with my schedule. Then it’s just a matter of really sticking to it. If you’re behind, do what you need to catch up. If you need to take a break, make sure you’re spending more time another day to stay on track.

Another thing that made me hold myself accountable is not changing my exam dates. This made me more disciplined so that I could study everything I needed to in time to take my exam on the date I scheduled it.

Third, remember that the hardest part about the exam is that it’s a lot of material to digest. In order to make sure that you don’t forget anything you study, constantly refresh your knowledge on topics you’ve already covered. If you’re currently studying section 9 or 10 on FAR, make sure you go back to section 1 and do multiple choice questions so you don’t forget.

Lastly, if you’re pressed for time, do a lot of multiple-choice questions and go over why you got the answers right or wrong. It was especially helpful for me to write the explanations down to reinforce the concept. I remember there were a lot of questions on the actual CPA Exam that were similar to the ones provided by Roger CPA Review; in fact, I felt like some of them were even harder than the ones on the actual exam itself, so make sure you practice those because it will serve as a good source of review and validation for what you do or don’t know.

Anything else you would like to share?

Some people finish their undergraduate degree, head straight to their master’s program, and then take the CPA Exam afterward. That wasn’t the case for me. Right after I graduated with my bachelor’s degree, I decided to study for and pass the CPA Exam because I found that a lot of the material covered on the exam comes from what you learn in your undergrad accounting classes. Also, taking the exam straight out of college was beneficial because you’re still in study mode and the information is still fresh in your mind.

Also, don’t be discouraged by the CPA Exam. It can be difficult and you may fail a section or two, but don’t give up. Remember that you’re in control and if you’re not passing, it may be because you need to change something about your study style. Keep working hard, try different things, and adjust your learning style to your study methods.

One last thing: I’d like to thank the Roger CPA Review team who made my CPA Exam experience a lot more bearable. People used to think I was crazy when I told them that I looked forward to studying after work–I couldn’t wait! And it was because Roger made the process fun. Having a course like Roger CPA Review made me realize how important it is to enjoy your CPA journey. If you’re enjoying what you’re learning, that’s what makes all the difference.
